Often, you have so many things on your mind. You stay busy—running around, trying to do too many things at once. In the midst of it all, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and distracted.
Jesus speaks directly into moments like this when He said, “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.” (Luke 10:41–42)
Sometimes, what you truly need is to…

…PAUSE!
Taking time to stop, pray, and write things down helps you gain clarity about what actually needs your attention. Every day, different thoughts come to mind. Some are routine responsibilities, while others are random ideas that seem to appear out of nowhere. Just because an idea feels good—or even brilliant—does not mean it needs to be acted on right now.
Pausing to pray gives you space to seek the will of the Lord for your life in that moment. It allows you to discern what is for now and what simply needs to be written down and revisited later. Your journal can hold those thoughts so your mind doesn’t have to carry them all.
Whatever you’re searching for today—whether through action or just in your thoughts—pause. Pray. Write it down.

Prayer has more to do with you than it does with God. When you pray, your heart is aligned with Him, and you position yourself to receive the blessings He has already set aside for you.
Today’s Prayer
Father, You are so good to me.
You are kind and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in unconditional love.
Your love is so great that I could never overuse it.
Lord, please forgive me for always taking matters into my own hands.
Forgive me for not trusting You with even the minor concerns of my life.
Today, Lord, I pray Philippians 4:6 over my life.
Please rid me of all the anxiety I’ve been feeling. I know this is not from You.
As it lingers, it slowly turns into stress—and I place that at Your feet.
Help me, Lord, to make a complete 180-degree turn in my life.
I turn away from the things I think are best for me, and I turn toward Your principles and Your ways of doing things.
Your ways are perfect.
Lord, help me to pray about every situation, no matter how small.
You care about my petitions more than I could ever comprehend.
Heavenly Father, I don’t want to be ungrateful, because You have truly been good to me.
Help me to remain thankful for everything You have deposited into my life—even for the situations that seem unfavorable right now.
I trust that they are still working together for my good, according to Romans 8:28.
Today, Father, I present all my cares and concerns to You:
- My marriage
- My children
- The ministry You’ve called me to
- The work of my hands
- The leaders in my life, at every level
- My vision and dreams for the future
I place them all into Your care, because I know You care more about me than I even care for myself.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing and answering my prayer.
In Jesus’ mighty and precious name I pray, Amen.
